Apart from AI proctoring, Equip has a set of anti-cheating settings that make it harder for candidates to share answers or use outside help. They are configured per test, and they work independently of the camera, microphone, and screen tracking that proctoring provides.
These four settings are separate from the proctoring settings panel, which controls tracking options like face detection, tab-switch detection, and full-screen enforcement.

What Each Setting Does

Randomization means two candidates sitting next to each other see different question sequences and different choice orders. Copying answers from a neighbor, or circulating a list like “question 3 is option B”, stops working.
Candidates are told which measures are active before they start. When copy/paste is blocked, for example, they see Copy/Paste Disabled listed among the active measures.

Defaults for Tests with Equip’s Content

If a test uses Equip’s content, the anti-cheating settings below are applied automatically based on the test type. You cannot change these defaults. N/A means the setting does not apply: the test contains only one question, or its questions have no choices to shuffle.
Defaults on Equip-content tests are locked to protect the shared question bank. For the same reason, recruiters see only sample questions when previewing Equip quizzes, never the questions candidates receive.

Configure Settings on Custom Tests

If a test uses your own content, all four settings are configurable per test.

Open the custom test

Edit your assessment and open the custom test you want to configure.

Adjust the anti-cheating options

Turn each of the four settings on or off. For Auto-submit on Tab-switch, also set how many tab switches are allowed before the test is submitted.

Save the test

Save your changes and update the assessment.
Enable Disable Copy & Paste on custom coding challenges. Without it, candidates can paste the problem statement into an AI tool and paste a solution back in seconds.

How These Settings Work with Proctoring

Anti-cheating settings and proctoring form a layered defense. Note the difference between the two tab-switch controls: Detect Switched Tab (a proctoring setting) records every switch as a violation in the report, while Auto-submit on Tab-switch goes further and ends the test once the limit is crossed. Together, disabled copy/paste, Enforce Full Screen, and tab-switch detection make on-device AI tools like ChatGPT impractical: the question is hard to extract, and opening another tab breaks full screen and gets captured. Stealth overlay tools and AI on a second phone are caught by Auxiliary Device proctoring, which uses the candidate’s phone as a second camera.
Every violation, whether from proctoring or tab switching, feeds into the candidate’s Trust Score, shown at the top of each report with timestamped evidence.
