Equip’s own quizzes automatically show different questions to different candidates. If you want the same randomization with your own questions, create a Question Bank and a Question Bank Quiz. This article walks through both, plus two lighter alternatives for randomizing individual questions.

Setting Up the Question Bank

A Question Bank (QB) is a large pool of your own questions. Each question carries a number of points, and those points double as the question’s difficulty level: a 1-point question is easier than a 5-point question.

Open Custom Tests

From the Assessments Dashboard, click the Custom Tests link in the sidebar.

Create a Question Bank

Choose the Question Bank test type and create a new bank. Give it a clear name, such as the skill it covers, because you will pick banks by name later.

Add questions and assign points

Add your questions to the bank, assigning points to each one. Save the bank when you are done.
Create one bank per skill, for example Java and Logical Reasoning. A single Question Bank Quiz can then mix questions from several banks.
Like all custom tests, Question Banks belong to your whole team. Teammates can see and edit them, and the same bank can feed quizzes in multiple assessments.

Creating the Question Bank Quiz

You cannot add a Question Bank to an assessment directly. You must first create a Question Bank Quiz (QBQ) that draws from it.
A QBQ defines how many questions to draw at each points level, from each bank. Every candidate then receives their own random selection matching that recipe. For example, with a Java bank and a Logical Reasoning bank, you could configure: Each candidate sees 8 questions in total, but not the same 8. You can also build a QBQ from a single bank.
The difficulty levels you see while building the QBQ correspond to the points you assigned per question when creating the Question Bank.

Adding the Question Bank Quiz to an Assessment

Once the QBQ exists, add it to any new or existing assessment.

Open the assessment settings

From the Recruiter Dashboard, open the settings of the assessment you want to edit.

Go to the Tests tab

Under the Tests tab, select the Quiz option on the left.

Add your quiz

Click Add Quiz and choose My Content.

Select the QBQ

Pick your Question Bank Quiz from the list and save the assessment.

Question Pools

A full QBQ is not the only way to randomize. Regular custom quizzes offer two question types that add randomness or choice to specific questions: A Question Pool question lives inside a regular custom quiz. You add several variants to the pool, and each candidate is shown one of them at random.
Use a Question Pool when most of your quiz should stay identical for every candidate and only certain questions need per-candidate variation.

Answer-Any-N Groups

The Answer Any question type groups several questions together and lets the candidate answer any N of them. For example, you can create 5 questions and let candidates choose any 3 to attempt. Unlike a Question Pool, the candidate sees all the questions in the group and decides which ones to answer. This suits open-ended sections where letting candidates play to their strengths is the point.
