Automation lets a pipeline stage act on its own. Each stage can hold one or more rules: when a trigger happens and the conditions match, Equip carries out the actions you chose, such as moving the candidate to the next stage or sending an email.
Automation is included with the Premium plan and above.

Create a Rule

1

Open the pipeline settings

Open the job opening’s Settings and go to the Candidate Pipeline tab. Automation is available on saved job openings, not in the job creation wizard.
2

Turn on Automation for a stage

Switch on Automation on the stage card, then click New rule. You can also start from the auto-advance or auto-reject starter.
3

Choose the trigger

Name the rule (up to 60 characters) and pick what starts it, for example Status changes to Graded.
4

Add conditions

Click Add condition to limit the rule to certain candidates, for example Overall score is at least 80. With no conditions, the rule runs for every candidate who reaches the trigger.
5

Add actions and save

Click Add action for each thing the rule should do, then click Save. A rule needs at least one action.
The rest of the Candidate Pipeline tab saves automatically, but the Automation dialog does not. Click Save before closing it, or your changes are discarded.

How a Rule Works

Every rule has the same three parts: When a trigger fires, every active rule on that stage is checked in the order listed. Once an action moves the candidate out of the stage, the remaining rules on that stage are skipped. For the full list of triggers, condition fields, and actions, see Automation Triggers, Conditions, and Actions.

Stages That Support Automation

Automation is available on the stages where candidates are evaluated. Each stage type offers its own scores to use in conditions. A rule can also use scores from the previous stage in the pipeline, so a Live Interview rule can check the assessment score that came before it.

Pause or Edit Rules

The stage card shows the state of its automation, for example “2 rules” or “2 rules, 1 paused”. Click it to open the dialog and edit.
A rule that rejects candidates when they enter a stage, with no conditions, rejects every candidate who reaches that stage. Equip warns you in the dialog; add a condition unless that is what you intend.

Example Rules

These are common starting points. Each is written in the same terms the dialog uses.
Start with one rule on one job opening and watch a few candidates pass through it. Once you trust the thresholds, repeat the rule on other openings.
