# Changing the Sender Name and Email

> Customize who invitation emails appear to come from.

When you invite candidates by email, Equip sends the invitation on your behalf. You can control the **sender name** candidates see and the **reply-to address** their responses go to, but not the "from" address itself. This article explains each part of the sender identity and how to change it.

## The Default Sender

Every invitation email has three sender-related parts, and each behaves differently:

| Part | Default value | Can you change it? |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **From address** | [hello@equip.co](mailto:hello@equip.co) | No, it is fixed for all accounts |
| **Sender name** | Your first and last name | Yes, via your Profile page |
| **Reply-to address** | Your email address | Yes, via your Profile page or the Sender dropdown |

Emails always go out from **[hello@equip.co](mailto:hello@equip.co)**. This is the same for every Equip account and cannot be configured.

<Note>
  Candidates still see a personal touch. The email displays your name as the sender, and clicking **Reply** addresses the response to your email ID, not to [hello@equip.co](mailto:hello@equip.co).
</Note>

## Customizing the Sender

The sender name on invitation emails is your first and last name as saved on your Equip profile. To change what candidates see, update your profile.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your Profile page">
    Go to your [Profile page](https://equip.co/account/profile/) in the Equip dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Update your name">
    Edit your first and last name. This combined name appears as the sender on every invitation you send.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send invitations as usual">
    Open the **Invite** link under your assessment and send from the **Send Invitations** tab. New emails use the updated name.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  There is no way to change the "from" email ID. It is always [hello@equip.co](mailto:hello@equip.co), even after you change your name and reply-to details.
</Warning>

## Reply-To Addresses

The **reply-to address** is the email ID of the team member who sends the invitation. When a candidate hits Reply, their message lands in that person's inbox.

You have two ways to control it:

| Approach                  | How it works                                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Change your own email** | Update the email address on your [Profile page](https://equip.co/account/profile/). Future invitations you send use the new address as reply-to. |
| **Send as a teammate** | Use the **Sender** dropdown on the **Send Invitations** tab, which lists your team members' email addresses. Alternatively, ask that teammate to send the invitation themselves. |

<Tip>
  The **Sender** dropdown only shows people already on your Equip team. If the address you need is missing, invite that person first. See [Manage Team Members](/manage-team-members).
