# Can't Find a Role or Skill to Assess For?

> What to do when Equip's library doesn't cover the role or skill you want to test: request new content or build a custom test.

<Tip>
  If Equip's library doesn't cover your role or skill, you have two options: ask Equip to build the test for you (free if it is broadly useful, about 5 business days for most skills), or create your own **Custom Test** right away.
</Tip>

Equip publishes its pre-built library on the [Skills](https://equip.co/skills/) and [Roles](https://equip.co/roles) pages. If you searched there or in the assessment builder and could not find what you need, you are not stuck. Equip is more than a database of questions, and there are two ways forward.

| Option                  | Who creates it       | Cost                                       | Turnaround                            |
| ----------------------- | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------- |
| **Request new content** | Equip's content team | Free if other customers would also benefit | About 5 business days for most skills |
| **Custom Test** | You | No extra charge to create | Immediate, as soon as you save it |

## Requesting New Content

Equip regularly adds new tests to its library. If the role or skill you need is one that other customers are likely to want too, Equip creates it for free.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Reach out on live chat">
    Open the chat widget on the Equip dashboard or website and tell the team which role or skill you want to assess, along with the experience level of your candidates.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for confirmation">
    The team confirms whether the test qualifies for free creation and shares a timeline. The turnaround is about **5 business days** for most skills.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the new test to your assessment">
    Once the content is live, add it to a new or existing assessment from the builder like any other Equip test.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Missing a programming language rather than a whole skill? Additional languages can often be enabled on request. See [Programming Languages](/programming-languages) for the currently supported list.
</Note>

## Using Custom Content Instead

If you need the test immediately, or the questions are specific to your company, create a **Custom Test** with your own questions. Custom tests sit alongside Equip's library content, and a single assessment can mix both freely.

You can build several kinds of custom content:

| Custom test type | Best for |
| -------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Quiz** | Your own questions across 15 question types, including MCQs and essays |
| **Coding Challenge** | Your own programming or SQL problems with your own test cases |
| **Question Bank / Question Bank Quiz** | Large question pools that serve each candidate a drawn set of questions |
| **Video Response** | Recorded video answers to your own prompts, up to 4 questions per test |

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Custom Tests">
    On the Assessments Dashboard, click the **Custom Tests** link in the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create and save your test">
    Choose a test type, add your questions, and save.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add it to an assessment">
    In the assessment builder, click the test type's **Add** button and choose **My Content** to select your test.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Already have questions in a spreadsheet? You can [import quiz questions from Excel](/import-questions-from-excel) instead of typing them in one by one.
